CBA evaluations in the race for the Riley vacancy in the 4th Subcircuit

The Chicago Bar Association has released its evaluations of candidates running for the Riley vacancy in the 4th Subcircuit. Candidates are listed in ballot order.

Democratic Candidates

Daniel Lawrence Peters -- Qualified
Judge Daniel L. Peters is “Qualified” for the office of Circuit Court Judge. Judge Peters was admitted to practice law in Illinois in 1991 and was appointed to the bench in 2011. Judge Peters is assigned to the Circuit Court’s Fifth Municipal District and presides over misdemeanor and traffic calls in the Bridgeview Court. Judge Peters has a calm demeanor and possesses the requisite legal knowledge and experience to serve as a Circuit Court Judge.
William "Gomo" Gomolinski -- Qualified
Judge William E. Gomolinski is “Qualified” for the office of Circuit Court Judge. Judge Gomolinski was admitted to practice law in 1986 and has been a judge since 2007. Judge Gomolinski is currently assigned to the First Municipal District and hears Forcible Entry and Detainer cases. Judge Gomolinski manages a high-volume court call effectively and is well regarded for his knowledge of the law, work ethic, and judicial ability.
Michael J. "Mike" Dickman -- Not Recommended
Michael J. Dickman is “Not Recommended” for the office of Associate Judge. Mr. Dickman was admit¬ted to practice law in Illinois in 1990 and has varied practice experience as an Assistant Cook County Public Defender (1991-1994); litigation associate in two separate firms (1994-1996); Judicial Hearing Officer, Circuit Court of Cook County (1996-2007); Special Project Staff Lawyer (2007); Research Attorney for the Illinois Appellate Court (2008); and Assistant State’s Attorney (2008-2011). Significant concerns about the depth and breadth of Mr. Dickman’s knowledge of the law and integrity resulted in a “Not Recommended” finding.
Terry Gallagher -- Qualified
Terry Gallagher is “Qualified” for the office of Circuit Court Judge. Mr. Gallagher was admitted to practice law in Illinois in 1988 and served in the U.S. Navy’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps. Mr. Gallagher is currently engaged in private practice concentrating in civil litigation and criminal defense work. Mr. Gallagher has extensive trial experience and is well regarded for his work ethic and fine temperament.
Joanne Marie Rogers -- Qualified
Joanne Marie Rogers is “Qualified” for the office of Circuit Court Judge. Ms. Rogers was admitted to practice law in Illinois in 1989 and is currently working for a small firm concentrating her practice in civil and commercial litigation and insurance defense work. Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Rogers served in the Cook County Public Defender’s office and in the Appeals Division of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office. Ms. Rogers enjoys an excellent reputation and possesses all the requisite qualifications to serve as a Circuit Court Judge.

Republican Candidate

Harry J. Fournier -- Not Recommended
Harry J. Fournier is “Not Recommended” for the office of Circuit Court Judge. Mr. Fournier was admitted to practice law in Illinois in 1997 and is currently a solo practitioner concentrating in Probate, Real Estate and Corporate Law. Mr. Fournier has transactional experience and is well regarded for his fine temperament and integrity. However, at this stage of his career, he does not possess the requisite depth and breadth of practice experience to serve as a Circuit Court Judge.
