The four World War I songs that Schroeder plays for Snoopy in "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown"

If you have young children or grandchildren in your home this week, even if they're just visiting, chances are that you will have played, or will play, "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," for them. It was the number one 'movie' on Apple TV, I noticed the last time I played it.

Those children, whether resident or visiting, may inquire, during the course of the program, why Snoopy the World War I Flying Ace is alternatively happy and sad during the medley Schroeder plays for him during the post-trick-or-treat party.

Some children, of course, will be satisfied with a generic answer -- oh, those are old songs that would have been popular in World War I -- but your children, or grandchildren, being uncommonly perspicacious, will no doubt demand to know the names of the songs, and possibly something about the lyrics, and an explanation as to why Snoopy has different reactions to each (two are happy and two are sad won't cut it -- not with your progeny). So, as a public service, here is a list of the four songs Schroeder samples during the party scene (the links are to Wikipedia articles about each one):
You can thank me later.
